About the event
We are delighted to welcome Madame Idoine Manoncourt to San Diego for a very special parlement taking a deep dive into Château Figeac vintages over the past two decades and more. She is the Chair of the Board of Directors and Co-Manager of the estate.
One of the finest Right Bank Bordeaux properties, and a favorite of many of our Commandeurs, Château Figeac originates from an ancient estate that traces its roots back to the 2nd century, when a Gallo-Roman villa was built on the site and named after a certain Figeacus. Château Figeac has belonged to the Manoncourt family since 1892. Thierry Manoncourt took over the running of Château Figeac in 1947, and it was under his more than 50 years of leadership that the estate rose to the front ranks of Saint-Émilion estates.
Due to its soil, which is dominated by gravel, Château Figeac is unique among Right Bank Bordeaux estates because it is planted in grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Cabernet Franc (35%), and Merlot (30%). Most other Saint-Émilion wines are dominated by Merlot, (with no Cabernet Sauvignon) and Figeac therefore bears a certain semblance to the wines of Médoc and Graves despite being situated on Bordeaux's Right Bank of the River Dordogne. The wine is one of the most prized of Saint-Émilion.
Chef Aaron Burns has created an extraordinary menu to pair with these exceptional red wines. Through the generosity of Chateau Figeac and Duclot LA, we'll be pouring perfect provenance, ex-chateau wines gifted to the San Diego chapter of the Commanderie de Bordeaux by Chateau Figeac for this special Parlement.
This will be the San Diego chapter's first Parlement at the bucolic Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club and it is being graciously sponsored by Commandeur Susan Hoehn.
