Bordeaux's Left Bank and Right Bank winemaking regions are separated by an estuary and two rivers. Check.
Grape varietals in a Left Bank blend largely differ from those comprising a Right Bank blend. Check.
The facts are easy enough to master. But while we know that Cabernet Sauvignon is favored in the hot and gravelly soils of the Left Bank but the cool clay and limestone predominant soils of the Right Bank favor Cabernet Franc and the fleshier Merlot... What does this taste like?
The palate-to-brain skill set developed in blind tasting can only be honed through practice.
Co-Educateur Chris Hamilton will lead us on an intellectual and sensory journey focusing on how to differentiate between Left Bank and Right Bank Bordeaux in a blind-tasting. Even the best MW's and MS's have been flummoxed, so be prepared to leave your ego at the door.
